Q:

A:

What factors affect my cost?

Several factors affect the price we charge to paint each room (our painting services include cleaning the surfaces, priming if necessary and applying two coats of high-quality interior paint):

  • Square footage
  • Wall height
  • Cut-in work (The number of doors and windows, and the amount of trim on walls determine the amount of cut-in work required.)
  • What’s being painted (Walls, ceiling, doors, and trim are all separate costs.)
  • Color (Changing to a lighter color from a darker color requires primer and/or additional coats of paint.)

Q:

A:

Do you repair drywall?

Yes – most drywall repairs are included with the painting estimate of each room, but there may be an additional charge depending on the extent of the drywall damage. More substantial drywall repairs will be quoted as a separate price.

How much do you charge to paint ceilings?

Our starting charge to paint a residential 8-foot-high ceilings is $1 per square foot. (i.e., a 10X10 room would cost $150).  Vaulted ceiling and hard to reach ceiling areas have an additional cost as do ceiling repairs

Q:

How much do you charge to paint interior doors?

The average cost to paint an interior door is $35 per side.  However, based on the type of door and any needed repairs, the total cost to fix and paint an interior door may be as much as $200. Depending on the door, it may be removed, and the hardware stripped before the door is painted.

How much do you charge to paint molding and trim?

For painting molding/trim in residential homes we charge between $250 to $500 per room, including paint. This is one of the hardest home features to paint right. Wood trim and molding is primarily sprayed which requires a lot of materials and prepping to prevent overspray. In some cases, we provide trim touch up at a fraction of the cost. Your costs will vary depending on how much molding will be painted.

Homes with no crown molding (at the top of the ceiling) will have a lower price than others that have crown molding. The type of molding can also affect the price and there is a wide variety of moldings/trims such as clam-shell baseboard, ogee molding, toe, and base cap molding.

Q:

A:

What type of paint do you use on the interior?

We primarily use Sherwin Williams paint products. All products will be discussed with the homeowner during the estimate process. Some homes require special products and/or sheens due to the surfaces being painted. For example, high traffic areas require a sheen that can easily be cleaned and will hold up to traffic without wearing out.

Q:

A:

How detailed are your estimates?

We are incredibly detailed on all our estimates. We believe in not only being thorough, but also in educating our customers throughout the process, so they know exactly what to expect. We break all items out by room and/or job being performed. We list all products being used so that customers can do their own research and compare our estimates with others if they wish.

Exterior Painting

Q:

A:

Will my color choice cost more?

Sometimes color choice plays a big part in cost. Paint color determines how the job is carried out. Color (changing to a lighter color from a darker color requires primer and or additional coats of paint). If you are working with a budget, try sticking with the same color or a slightly darker color.

Q:

A:

If I have wood windows will it cost more?

Unfortunately, yes. Wood windows require more time as most of them need to be painted by hand. The more windows you have the higher the cost. In some cases, a 4-sided brick home with wood windows will cost more to paint then a house with vinyl windows and siding. We take our time prepping each surface and ensure the widows are in working order when we are done.

Q:

A:

How much does an exterior paint job cost?

Exterior house painting varies greatly, but our average charge for a 2,000 square foot, ranch style home runs about $3,000 including all paint and materials.

Multi-story homes cost more to paint. Because of the level of preparation required, older homes with worn exteriors will often cost more to paint than newer homes that have undergone less wear and tear.

Q:

A:

Do you fix wood rot around my home before painting?

YES! We will not paint a home unless “We Can Do It Right”! We will replace all wood rot around your entire home before we paint. All estimates include wood repair as a separate line item.

Q:

A:

What type of paint do you use on the exterior?

We primarily use Sherwin Williams paint products. All products will be discussed with the homeowner during the estimate process. Some homes require special products due to the type of surfaces being painted. For example, homes with wood siding will require a moisture guard to prevent rot. Darker color homes will require a paint with higher reflective properties so the sun will not cook your home from the outside in.

Q:

A:

Do you offer discounts?

Yes, we offer discounts on larger projects when multiple things are being done. Painting shutters on your home may cost you $900, but if you paint the entire exterior of your home, the shutters portion of the job may only cost you $600. We also run specials from time to time.
